What You Need To Know
A simple guide to submitting your proof of student loans
Last Mile Education Fund is not a replacement for financial aid or loans, and is intended to fill gaps in funding after all other sources have been exhausted.
To review your application, we may need documentation that shows the loans you were offered and the loans you accepted for the semester in which you’re requesting support.
Submitting the right documents the first time keeps your application moving and helps us support more students just like you. Please upload only the documents we request—additional files may slow your review.
What Counts as an Acceptable Proof of Loans
The loan documentation you’ll need depends on your financial aid situation.
If You Can’t Find the Right Document
Financial aid offices are familiar with these requests and can provide what you need.
You may need to request updated financial aid information from your school. Students often:
Download a current aid ledger from their portal
Ask financial aid for an updated aid acceptance summary
Request documentation showing loan ineligibility if they were not offered or could not accept loans
Documentation must include:
Loans offered for the semester
Loans you accepted, clearly shown
Your full name
A date on the document
Acceptable documents may include:
Financial aid ledger screenshots from your university’s portal
Private loan documentation, if applicable
Proof of loan ineligibility, such as a loan decline letter, a SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) letter, or a FAFSA showing $0 loan offer
All required information must appear on the same page for us to accept the document and keep your review on track.
Common Issues to Avoid
Ensuring your document includes all details helps us keep your review on track.
Here are the most frequent issues that delay review:
Letters that show only loans offered, not loans accepted. We must see both to determine eligibility.
Missing full name. We cannot accept documents without a name or with only a first name. If your document is missing your name, you must find an alternative version.
Checklist
Before you upload, make sure your document is clear and readable and has:
Your Full Name
We need to see your full name on the document to confirm it belongs to you.
Loans Offered & Accepted
We need to see a dated document with all loans offered to you and all loans accepted by you
All On The Same Page
All required information needs to be on the same page so we can approve the document.
